2010 Watersports Atlantic Games in Cantabria

31/07 - 5/08/2010, Santander (Spain)

From 31 July to 5 August 2010, more than 400 competitors from Atlantic regions and countries will gather in Santander in Cantabria for a week of competitions and exchanges.

Since their creation in Brittany in 1995, the Atlantic Watersports Games have catered for Atlantic Area water-sports delegations, from Scotland to the Canary Isles, taking in Ireland, Brittany, Wales, Asturias, Norte Portugal...

This original sporting festival, supported by the Commission Atlantic Arc of the European Union, is mainly oriented towards the young hopefuls of the Atlantic Area water sports.
It is one of the few international events to unite all the water sports – sailing, surfing, canoeing, diving and rowing – around this shared heritage of the ocean.
The 2010 Watersports Games will be organised by the Government of Cantabria and the Cantabria sporting associations in the Bay of Santander. The sporting activities in the sea are to be accompanied by a major cultural programme of land-based events.
The Watersports Atlantic Games form a remarkable spotlight on the common destiny of our countries and regions located at the western tip of Europe. They are also an opportunity for the regional sport federations to engage their best young athletes in a high level international competition.

Competitions will start on Monday the 2nd august, following the traditional Opening Ceremony of Sunday the 1st, organized at 12.00 in the Center of Santander, always beautiful and highly appreciated by the public.
