BATTERIE - Better Accessible Transport to Encourage Robust Intermodal Transport
05.12.2012, Belfast (Northern Ireland, UK) The project BATTERIE will hold its launch event.
Collette Fitzgerald (head of EC Regional Office in Northern Ireland), Alex Atwood Michael (Minister of Environment, Member of Legislative Assembly, Northern Ireland), Danny Kennedy (Minister for Regional Development, Member of Legislative Assembly, Northern Ireland) and Michael Doran (Executive Director Action Renewables - Lead partner) will be the event's speakers.
BATTERIE (Better Accessible Transport to Encourage Robust Intermodal Enterprise) is led by local company Action Renewables. It is a 14 strong collaboration bringing together partners from across the Atlantic Area Regions in the UK, Ireland, France and Portugal. The project will look at innovative ways to integrate alternative fuels and smart technology into international air, road, rail and sea transport networks. With rising utility prices and energy security issues topping national and regional agendas, BATTERIE will focus on providing answers to the most pressing issues affecting member states. This will include hot topics such as the future impact of rising fuel costs and fuel shortages, and identifying how smart technologies and alternative fuel use can rise to meet future challenges.
The project will run for three years, and has a truly international and ‘triple helix’ (partners from the academic, public and private sectors) composition.
