Closing Ceremony of the Atlantic Watersports Games: Viana do Castelo (Norte Portugal) hands over to Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie (Pays de la Loire)

19.07.2013 - 19th Atlantic Watersports Games organized by the city of Viana do Castelo and its clubs, hosted 18 regional teams from Ireland to the Lisbon region, through Wales, Basse-Normandie and Galicia.

The 2013 edition showed the strong dynamic of the Games with a record of participation since 2010. 400 young water sports up and coming talents - sailing, surfing, rowing, kayaking, kite surfing, surf life saving, finswimming, open water swimming - have lived together an unforgettable week, made at the time of high competitions and great moments of friendship and discovery.
Bretagne won in front of Basque Country and Norte Portugal.
Viana do Castelo, City very involved in the development of marine leisure, has shown its watersports know-how and the great quality of its venues and equipments.
The Mayor of Viana, Jose Maria Costa, transmitted the « Atlantic Games Row » to the representatives of the region Pays de la Loire, Joel Soulard, Marcel Retailleau and Yunsan Meas.
The region Pays de la Loire and the city of Saint-Gilles Croix de Vie, will organize the 20th Watersports Games, from the 14th to the 18h July 2014.
