Consultation on Ocean Energy (OE) - DG MARE

All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation. Contributions are particularly sought from public authorities, industry associations and businesses, environmental organizations, academia and research groups.

Objective of the consultation

The The Integrated Maritime Policy (IMP), introduced in 2007, aims to help Europe realise the potential of its marine and coastal resources. It does this by providing a framework for coordination of the different domains, functions and users of the seas and oceans and promoting excellence in marine research, technology and innovation.

Ocean energy (mostly generated from tides and waves at the present time) is a potential source of jobs and growth in Europe. However, its development has faced challenges. This consultation aims at gathering opinions and ideas from individuals and stakeholders on whether and how to help the sector make its contribution to security of energy supply in Europe and meeting targets for a 'green' future.
