EU stakeholder asked for views on the EUROPE 2020 strategy
On 5 May 2014, the Commission has launched online a public consultation on the Europe 2020 strategy.
This public consultation will be open until 31 October 2014 and is accessible through the dedicated page on the Europe 2020 website.
Following the Commission's Communication of 5 March 2014 taking stock of the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, this consultation aims to gather the views of all interested parties on the lessons that can be drawn from the first years of implementation of the strategy and on the elements to take into account for its further development, in order to make it an effective post-crisis growth strategy for Europe. The public consultation will thus inform the mid-term review of the strategy.
The consultation is structured in three sections
1) Taking stock: including questions on the difference the strategy has made, the involvement of stakeholders, the setting of national targets, etc.;
2) Ideas for adapting the Europe 2020 strategy; the need for a strategy, the need to include any other policy areas, or to improve involvement and implementation; and
3) Other comments.
Given the importance of local, regional and national public institutions in delivering EUROPE 2020 objectives and the importance of many Cohesion Policy programmes for investment in growth the Commission particularly welcomes these stakeholders.
