TURNKEY - Wave Glider public presentation
27/28.03.2015, Nazaré (Portugal) The Wave Glider is essentially an ocean surface drone capable of carrying a multitude of sensors, it is powered by wave action and solar energy and has no emissions. It is remotely and wirelessly controlled; collecting data in a cost-effective manner. The data is then streamed wirelessly, reducing boat costs.
To inform local communities about the characteristics of this equipment and aim, an informative session will be held on March 27, at the Municipal Library of Nazaré. The event will be followed by a demonstration in the Shelter Harbor.
The Wave Glider will be released on March 28, it will make journeys on the coast of Nazaré, Peniche and São Pedro de Moel, potential areas for the implementation of marine renewable energy projects.
TURNKEY (Transforming Underutilised Renewable Natural Resource into Key Energy Yields) is designed to create a thriving industry that will help reduce the causes of climate change and bring secure, long-term jobs, whilst protecting the coastal and marine environment.
