As new Chairman of the Managing Authority I have great pleasure in addressing the first issue of Newsflash, our new information newsletter. It will be published every two months to bring you useful information on projects and to show the most significant remarks on the life of the programme. You will find here summarised information for a quick glance but also more in depth analyses on the issues tackled. The chosen format is a flexible one, allowing to evolve according to the arising needs. I am particularly sensitive about the communication of projects and achievements of the programme, as I think it is fundamental to show tangible results and to demonstrate how this transnational programme contributes to concretely strengthening the economic and social cohesion of the Atlantic Area.
The first Newsflash deals with Marine Economy, a key sector for the Atlantic Area. Five new projects will be funded in this area following a decision of the Programme Monitoring Committee. This is a clear contribution of the programme to a sector most able to promote sustainable economic development. In the context of the economic crisis, it was essential to show how European Transnational Cooperation can play a role on what matters for the “Growth and Jobs” strategy, within the Atlantic Area.
